Abstract:

Israel came under brutal attack on October 7, 2023, culminated in a long festering all out conflict against the Hamas perpetrators in the Gaza Strip. All parties to conflict must act in accordance with international law. This article examines whether Israel’s subsequent use of force to rescue and defend its nationals, abides by the right of self-defense under the UN Charter and is in accordance with the law of armed conflict and international humanitarian law.
